I loved Big Huge Labs! There are all kinds of fun things you can do there. I made an ID badge with an example of how I might use it in my classroom. (click to view larger)
We could also use the map maker to highlight the native habitat of a specific animal, etc. The students could make a comic strip about a specific topic that showed they knew the material or meaning of a new vocabulary word. There are lots of things that could be done.

Of course, I also could not resist the urge to Warholize my little boy.....
